windowsills are being made

Ding, Ding, Ding, We Have a Winner - "Colonial Maple". Oh, I'm sorry: context would be useful, would it not? Jonathan and Steve were here today building the windowsills out of #1 pine. They need to get right on it, because they need to be in, stained, and polyurethaned before the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (namely, the insulators and the drywall subs) get here. Which is happening on...Wednesday. So we needed to pick a stain.

We looked at a bunch of different colors.
Did you know you can buy teeny weeny test samples of stain for a quarter each? Yep.

They've made good headway on the sills for the stairwell windows...

...and they've started in on the wider ones in the southeast corner of the office. This will have bookshelves under it.

I also noticed some ductwork related to the heat exchanger I hadn't noticed before. This is at the base of the stairs. You can see where the window of the existing living room will get filled in. The doorway connecting the addition to the existing house will be to the left of that window. The duct shown above seems intended to make its way into the existing house.

Charlie accompanied me on today's fact-finding mission. Maggie hasn't shown any interest in the project so far.
