A new record for vehicles in the driveway

My partner in journalism tells me that today was a noisy day at the Maison Brennan. There were eight vehicles parked in the driveway aside from our own. We had both the Regular and Bonus guys (bonus = when Stephen comes by). We had the electrician. We had two plumbers. And we had two solar guys.

Regular Guys
Siding, siding, and more siding. Almost there.

You can see how one of the last steps is to even out the bottoms of the pieces.

Kevin tells me that the dividing line between the top and bottom sections looks as good in person as it does in the pictures.

Electrician and Plumbers
It turns out that it's actually good form that the recessed cans clicked off when incandescents were put in them. They normally have compact fluorescents in them. Today, Terry did the bathroom vanity fixture wiring. And the plumbers were doing the work down in the basement (existing) and crawlspace (addition) necessary to run the baseboard heat. No pictures, but my guess is maybe installing the water tank (which, by the way, turns out to be a different one from that posted about earlier), connecting it to the boiler, and running pipes hither and yon.

Solar guys
Two guys, as well as one of the Regular Guys (Mike, back from hiking the Long Trail - go, Mike!) worked on installing the solar panels today.

Solar panel #1 makes the journey up the ladder.

While we're here, praying for the safe journey of people and materiel, let us note how a few, time-consuming details in siding remain to be done over here.

One down, two to go!
Oh hey, from here the bulkhead (in front of the bump out) looks cute. Like Me, Mini-Me, and Mini-Mini-Me. Or something.

Here they are getting the second one up to the roof...

And here we are, three solar panels. Wow!

I am so looking forward to learning about how this all works. Last year, my friend Paul put together an information workshop on rigging up solar hot water systems, and I got really into studying the schematics. Now I get to actually play with this.

A final highlight

Jonathan put on his hazard suit and breathing apparatus and sprayed insulation beneath the mudroom (also known as our current bedroom).

I like to joke with Jonathan about how he ends up with all the weird jobs.
