Fun with forklifts

The wood for the deck was delivered today.

This may be the last time we get to witness the fun involved in heavy equipment.

So let's take pictures.

I sure hope the payload doesn't slide off.

It's kinda tippy...

Mind the lilac bushes.

Um, the lilacs?

Gulp. They'll be OK...

Whew - cleared 'em.

Setting it down...

Mike and Gary leap into action...

By the time they left today, they'd put the main supports down (I don't know the term - like the sills, I guess), and some of the joists. I'll post pictures tomorrow.

Indoors, Steve sanded and got the first coat of urethane down on the stairs. Jonathan fiddled with the dutch door in the bedroom, capping off the top edge of the bottom half of the door so that it's not as obvious that it's been chopped in half. Other stuff happened as well - maybe some painting touch up. It was just the two of them.

Alan the tiling guy visited briefly, but we determined that he can't proceed without the shelves for the built-in-alcove -- which we are having cut from the same piece of stone that the vanity countertop is coming from. So we're visiting the guy who will actually create the countertop, first thing tomorrow morning.
