We more-or-less got the rest of the books organized this evening.
This is the in-progress version...
...and this is the just-a-minute-ago version.
There are two or three more shelves' worth of books waiting on the floor for tomorrow afternoon, when the rest of the brackets arrive. In other news, I promised Michael I'd do a better job of showing progress on the deck.
This is from early on today.
By now, there are about seven planks more to be laid down. I believe that the tensioners, which can be had for only one arm and leg apiece, are the next step. (You will recall that we're using wire railings; the cables are kept tight via tensioners.) Either that, or they'll start in on the steps, which will be in the corner - dead ahead, in the photo above.
Today's inept collage. I am jealous of my cousin Emily's new camera. I am also frustrated about some snafu bug I got a while back that caused Microsoft Windows' built in photo editor to die - I can't lighten up these dark pictures the way I want to. Grumble, grumble. I always did hate editing graphics. Not my bag.
The rest of the lighting fixtures are AWOL. Apparently, a whole bunch of orders at the lighting store are delayed for want of one particular component that's back ordered at the manufacturer's. What we're still waiting for: a fairly plain-vanilla ceiling fixture for the bathroom, and a sconce for the micro-hallway at the top of the stairs.
The sconce.
Finally, we got the batcave a little better organized this morning.
We set up my ancient futon couch. Our next project is to get that carpet up, put down some blond wood flooring from IKEA, and repaint this something other than Melt Your Eyeballs orange. (Yes, I know, the whole house is orange, what's wrong with this orange? It's just Wrong, is all.)
The oriental rugs will be ready to be picked up by the end of this week. They'd been living in the basement for the past year and a half, and we didn't think an ordinary vacuuming would do the trick, particularly when Kevin learned that he's allergic to about eleven things, maybe ten of which were certain to be living in the carpets.
download Windows Live Writer - it will change your (blogging) life forever. so many picture options and sooo much easier to work in!!
ReplyDeleteyour house is gorgeous. i was getting really nervous about that staircase though - im glad to see a banister is going up. i thought you were going to leave it with the open edge!
