That’s my go-to song for when I need to get up and DANCE.
So imagine, if it’s this hot in the early evening, how much hotter it felt around noon.
Especially if you have a big project in mind…
Kevin’s been going out in 15 or 20 minute bursts and splitting a bunch of logging detritus into firewood. I imagine the enormous woodchuck who lives in the pole barn is less than pleased by his intrusions – to which I can only say, “tough noogies”.
It’s so hot, that we finally broke out this fabulous wading pool that arrived in the mail from our sister-in-law Cathy a few years ago. (Yay, Cathy!) See, it just didn’t get HOT enough to use it until just now…plus we have this sweet deck with a ton of room on it…
My basil and cilantro notwithstanding, SOME things here are growing like…well, like weeds. The grass is up to my knees. I’m sure if we happened to live in a neighborhood with sidewalks and passersby, we’d be better lawn stewards. Well, we’re GREAT lawn stewards, according to the cats. They love to lurk at the margins of the lawn, waiting for chipmunks to venture out of the woods. Then there’s a FLURRY of activity and a lot of indignant cheeps.
The foxglove out beyond the firepit has just gone crazy.
See how tall it is?
Raspberries not quite ripe yet…hurry up, I’m hungry…
Maggie sought refuge under the hammock stand, which Kevin moved out to the lawn to make way for the pool.
The kayaks are spooning out by the garage, dreaming of water. Too bad they won’t fit in the wading pool…
