rusty but here

Home, home, home.

Yesterday I thwacked away at the side of the driveway, obliterating three summers' worth of black raspberry and wild rose growth. My rule: nobody prickly gets to live here. This Queen Anne's Lace stoically endured my disruption of its neighborhood.

We woke this morning to this.

I headed out for a walk in the afternoon. Didn't bring any cameras, just the phone, on airplane mode (no cell signal out here, so may as well save the battery.)

I'm thinking I could get used to it.

A neighbor a mile or so from us used to have a greenhouse business. It seems defunct now, but some of these crazy hybrids (??) are volunteering in their driveway.

Dusted with magic.

Right next to it, some type of hedge nettle. Maybe.

You don't want to know how long it's been since I've keyed out something unfamiliar. It's been wayyyy too long. That's all I'll say.

God, it's good to be back in Vermont.
